The Ava Compact Dome packs a lot of processing power into a small package, which means it has less surface area with which to dissipate heat than our larger cameras, and so can get quite warm during normal operation. Power consumption (and indeed heat dissipation) increases when features such as IR are in use. In general if the camera is otherwise working as expected then this is normally nothing to worry about.

If, on the other hand you experience unexpected behaviour with your compact dome then please raise a case with Ava support for further investigation.
